MCC Meat Canner

The MCC Meat Canner is coming to town April 12-13, 2018!

Volunteers throughout the United States and Canada gather at the mobile meat canner's stops to fill, wash, and label every single can. Last year, over 575,000 pounds of canned turkey, beef, chicken, and pork were sent around the world. This meat provides vital nutrition to families in Ethiopia, Ukraine, and beyond.

MCC's meat canner has served communities in need each year since 1946. We're excited to help! Our goal is to prepare 14,000 pounds of turkey during the two days of operation at Maple Ridge Center. Ten percent of the finished product can be distributed through local food pantries and churches. As host, our responsibilities include purchasing the meat and financing the operating costs of the mobile canner while it's at our site.

Here's how you can help:

  • Volunteer with the mobile meat canner at Maple Ridge Center on April 12 and 13, 2018! Two-hour shifts are available. Families and church groups are encouraged to sign up together! Contact Keith Zehr at (315) 376-4963 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information.
  • Participate in fundraisers. Stay tuned for more information about a bike race and other fundraisers.
  • Donate. $35,000 is needed to cover the costs of the mobile cannery and supplies. Click the link below to help feed hungry people throughout the world.

We're excited to partner with the Mennonite Central Committee, local churches of all denominations, and the north country community.
